Traveling can be both very exciting and cause you to be very nervous. With these tips, you are going to know how to get the most out of your trip to Mexico City.
Things to Do
Mexico City is a place of historical importance. A lot of the best things to do in this area involve exploring this rich history. One of these places is the Centro Histórico, which is the “City of Palaces.” This city was a place the Spanish conquerors destroyed and built over. The Zócalo is the central public square, and it’s the 2nd largest in the world. (Moscow’s Red Square is the largest.)
Other great places to check out in this area include the Palacio Nacional (the President’s offices) and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral. Here you can find murals created by Diego Rivera.
In the southern part of Mexico City, there is a canal where you can find the man-made islands of Xochimilco. This area is dubbed as the “Venice of the New World,” offering boat tours that you can enjoy as you explore this area. Xochimilco translates to “Where the flowers grow,” a name it earned due to the stunning floating gardens.
Bosque de Chapultepec is another fantastic location that you must check out for a beautiful day in Mexico City. You could probably spend an entire day here and still have a great time. There are more than 1,600 acres of things to do. This place is not only the largest park in Mexico City, but it’s also a place with several historical sites. Around the main entrance, you can find the Monument of the Young Heroes, a monument to honor six young cadets who refused to surrender during the Mexican-American War at the Battle of Chapultepec in 1847. You can also find a modern art museum here, botanical gardens, and the Nation Museum of Anthropology.
Where to Eat
One of the best things about traveling to other locations is food. First of all, you need to take a stroll around to enjoy the many different options for street food here. You can find many different food options at the street vendors. If you’re not feeling like street food, or you want to have some other dining options, you have plenty of choices. Blanco Colima can be found right in the heart of the city, offering an elegant atmosphere and cuisine. Guzina Oaxaca provides a fresh, organic approach to traditional cuisine.
